Fizbag and the environment....
Reuseable bags ARE the sustainable alternative to single use bags
The waste and resources action programme (WRAP) have told us that we use approximately 10 billion plastic bags every year in the UK. This means that roughly 165 plastic bags are used by each person and equates to around 90,000 tonnes of plastic!
Plastic bags litter our beautiful landscape and whats worse, they cause immense damage to our wildlife. Horrifyingly, amongst a total of 800g of plastic, several UK plastic bags were found inside the gut of a whale washed ashore in 2002.
These are amongst many of the reasons why Gordon Brown, and an increasing number of local councils are supporting the policy to tax or ban single use plastic bags.
Fizbag material is extremely strong, durable, practical and lightweight. Its long life span means its ecological footprint is relatively small. When the Fizbag finally expires, it is very easy to find another use for it! Familes who support Fizbag have suggested using them as painting tabards or to donate them to the local school for arts and crafts. The list is endless - it truly is a reusable bag for life!
