Fizbag Ltd was established in 2007 when director Amanda Overland launched the Fizbag Original reusable bag for life. Fizbag has grown at a rapid rate and is now the largest provider of design-led, compact and stylish reusable shopping bags in the UK.
Fizbag has representation in the UK, Australia, Canada, Norway, Malta and soon to be South Africa. Every day brings new enquiries from interested parties to stock Fizbag worldwide.
Based in Jersey, Fizbag specialises in designing stylish, reusable solutions for everyday. In 2009 Amanda was awarded runner-up in ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ at the Jersey Enterprise Awards sponsored by the States of Jersey.
How it all began
Amanda says:
‘I was hoarding plastic bags in a drawer with the intention of reusing them. Once the drawer was overflowing, I had no choice but to throw them away. I felt really guilty about sending them to landfill. This, together with images of wildlife tangled up and sometimes swallowing plastic bags. I knew we had to stop using plastic carrier bags, but for this to happen we needed a practical and reusable bag for life solution.
I tried using various bags for life but the problem was that I had to plan ahead. There was no way I could practically carry an armful of huge bags at all times just in case I bought something! When I was actually planning to go, I kept forgetting to take them with me and they ended up staying in the boot of my car or at home. I needed a reusable bag that I didn’t have to think about and provided minimal hassle.
Now I keep 3 Fizbag Originals in my handbag at all times and don’t even notice they’re there. I haven’t used a plastic bag since.’
The environmental philosophy
We want to prove that small changes make a big impact.
We launched Fizbag reusable bags for life to encourage reduced use of plastic carrier bags to help protect the environment and its wildlife. Every year in the UK alone we use approximately 10 billion plastic bags which have a tremendous negative impact on the environment. The long life span of the Fizbag range means our ecological footprint is relatively low.
The design philosophy
Fizbags are British designed and inspired by the latest colour trends and fashions. Fizbag has established itself as the ‘must have’ fashion accessory, as seen in Cosmopolitan Magazine and on ITV’s ‘This Morning’.
We want to prove that even the most practical of shopping bags can be fantastically stylish! We are passionate about our bags and develop new designs regularly to make Fizbag even more unique.
The future…
Our ultimate goal is to make our practical and stylish reusable Fizbags available to everyone all over the world.
